SUSD's gifted education program is designed to provide appropriate services for students who require differentiated educational programs and/or services beyond those normally provided by the regular school program.

The program complies with Arizona Law that mandates that school districts identify gifted students as those scoring at the 97th percentile on a state approved test of reasoning ability. All students scoring at the 97th percentile or above on any one of the three batteries of the Cognitive Abilities Test or on any other appropriate test administered by Scottsdale District personnel will qualify for placement.

2011-2012 Gifted Program Testing Information

Gifted Program Testing Information:
If you would like your child tested for the gifted program there are three times throughout the school year when testing is offered.  The next teting will take place at all Elementary and Middle Schools in January for grades K-1 and 3-8. For winter testing you will need to complete a referral form by December 1st and send it to the district gifted office or drop it off to the school office. You can download a form from the S.U.S.D. website, pick one up from the front office of the school or your child’s teacher or gifted specialist can send one home to you.
Notification of the specific dates will be sent home with each child prior to testing. Notification of test results will be sent via mail 30 days after each testing window. Students can be assessed once per academic year.

This year the district will be offering gifted testing at the following times:
Grades 3-8: September 6-30; referral forms due August 26. Unfortunately, late forms cannot be accepted.  Students in Grades 3-8 who do not test in September may test in January.
